HILLSBOROUGH CALIFORNIA RESIDENCE

This extensive renovation and site transformation is located on the outskirts of a canyon in Hillsborough, California. While we preserved approximately half of the front facade, the rear of the property has been entirely reimagined.

On the main floor, we eliminated most of the interior walls to craft a spacious great room that seamlessly connects to a newly constructed deck adorned with an elegant trellis. By lowering the elevation of the partially existing lower floor by 4 feet, we created a sizable game/playroom and two additional bedrooms.

In the backyard, we removed an aging pool and raised the ground level to harmonize with the new lower floor and an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) equipped with an indoor/outdoor kitchen. A stunning vanishing edge pool now graces the canyon's edge, surrounded by terraced plantings that delicately soften the landscape on both sides.
