HOWELL MOUNTAIN

NAPA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA

Situated atop Howell Mountain above the Napa Valley, this site uniquely blends mountain surroundings and far-off valley views. The owners of this 1960’s house wanted to take advantage of the amazing surroundings. While maintaining most of the house’s perimeter walls, we raised the roof 5 feet and integrated a new steel window and door scheme to maximize views near and far. Imbuing the corners of the house on the southside with large windows and doors blurs the intersection of house and site. Local Saint Helena cottage stone was incorporated into the entry facade, landscaping and interiors, connecting the home to the awe-inspiring site.
