HOFFMAN RESIDENCE

NAPA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA

This home, set upon a rare open lot in Napa Valley, is surrounded by vineyards and views of the Stags’ Leap range. This topography, which serves as the inspiration for the destination retreat home, recalls the modest agricultural origins of the valley. This exploration of simple structures allows the natural environment and landscape design to have a more significant presence from within. The detached two-story barn’s intentional placement and separate material palette create a sense of arrival while recalling the typical farmyard “accretion” of structures over time. Holder Parlette designed the home in collaboration with Summit Professional Builders and Rhyne Designs Landscape.
