OAK KNOLL

NAPA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA

Set on the valley floor of Napa, this new home replaces a traditional home currently on the site. The home was re-oriented on site to face a majestic existing pond and mountains to the east. The new placement of the house and pool patio fully engages the pond frontage.   The house is composed of 3 gabled wings enclosing the house’s main Great Room.   A zinc roof and metal siding clad the wings and provide a contrast to the stone-clad Great room.

To the east of the main house, the guest house abuts the southeast corner of the pond. The structure is composed of 4 stone-clad walls running north to south. A thin, wood-cladded roof structure spans the walls. Large floor-to-ceiling windows face the pond, giving the illusion that the structure ‘floats’ about two feet above the pond surface.
